Chaplain Dear Brothers and Families We all either go to the kitchen to get some 'grub' (chow, snack) or someone brings us food from the kitchen and we eat to nourish our bodies and minds. There is till another way to get fed, and that's with God's word. 'The word became flesh and dwelt among us', I love this passage, especially what Jesus did for us. On Good Friday and Easter Sunday, when our Lord could have called divisions of angels to help him on the cross of during the whippings and crowning of thorns, but Jesus took all that pain and suffering for us and all our sins. The Jews might have been in power with the Romans, but out king Jesus died for all of us by all defeating death and sin, and on the third day resurrection Sunday on Easter Sunday Jesus rose from the bowels of the earth and scripture was again for filled 'the temple was reconstructed in three days. I would think some of us saw Mel Gibson's 'Passion' and for a lot of us it was the first time we saw the agony, pain and torture that they used on Jesus. Yes, it was Hollywood production, but it was close to being not only biblically correct, but the depiction and pain that Jesus the man had to suffer and endure showed and projected what our Lord had to take on. Speaking with my mother, age 83, and Kathy Bennett, they both said that they had never seen the scourging (9-tails) whipping of Jesus and after the movie had a new realization of what Jesus did for us. I hope some of you brothers and families have a chance to see the movie. |

PSA 119:9-11 A daily dose of Goods word can help vaccinate us against sin!! Also PSA 118:5,6,7,8 'Out of my distress I called upon the Lord - the Lord answered me and set me free. With the Lord on my side I do not fear. What can man do to me? With the Lord on my side to help me I shall look in triumph on those who hade me!! It is better to take refuge (complete trust) in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Let's go back to the kitchen: One of my feeding passages comes from John 6:35 'I Am The Bread of Life', he who comes to me shall never hunger and he who believes in me shall never thirst'. My interpretation of this verse is the following: If you seek the real bread that nourishes your spiritual soul (entire spirit, mind and emotional self. Then you are being fed by God and if you believe that it is God (thru) Jesus on the Holy Spirit that's feeding you you'll never thirst. |

Brothers, do you remember how we would give anything while on patrol or company/Bn size operations for a fresh canteen of cold water? The analogy is simple, Jesus (God our Father the Holy Spirit) can feed us more than long-range dehydrated rations or C-Rats or a hot meal from a rear position in Dong Ha, Phu-Bai or Con Thien that food kept our bodies and some of our minds alive, but Jesus promises us in John 6:35 that he is the bread of life and as a child believes his dad or mom when they say, 'I'm going food shopping and when I come back you'll have a nice lunch and snacks for school. Our Jesus or some call him the Lord also promises to sustain us as the bread of life. |

My son PJ just received First Communion this past Sunday and our entire family was there to witness our son's First Communion. I had tears of joy flowing all day. If your not too tired to reading my article I would like to get feed back on this next tipic. Captain Alan Brudno (Viet Nam 66-73) POW Air Force pilot captured 1966, Hanoi Hilton until 1973, the DOD announced Friday, April 2, 2004 that Captain Brudno's name would be carved into our wall in DC. He committed suicide in his home after returning from Viet Nam prison camps. I guess the argument was that he shouldn't be Viet Nam memorial and he said, 'the department of defense has reached an appropriate conclusion in Captain Brudno's case'. I was wrong, it was too emotional for me to think it through. Anyone wanting to comment or say anything please e-mail me at Cigsemperfi67@aol.com or write, PO Box 5, Humarock, MA 02047. I hope things are OK and if they're not, please ask the Devine Physician, our Jesus to help you make it through. |
