Would love to make contact with guys that served in. Nam from Lzloon June 6th 1968 I was with. Delta . company from May 27th untill June 20 1969
Larry Bear, Cpl, I was with Delta Co, on LZ Loon 0331 and I was quite busy facing that Napalm that was being dropped close to our lines on the hill in front of us.
Larry,
It’s been a while, I hope you can remember me. I was in your gun team at the start of Operation Kentucky on the fire break. I lost touch with you after the Rock Pile and moved up to Camp Carroll just before LZ Loon. Unfortunately I was shot there and never saw anyone again.
I hope to see you at the Salt Lake battalion reunion in September. It will have been my fourth and after many years of hesitation, I find it well worth the expense and brotherhood.
Mike Munro,
Larry I was on lzloon Delta Co.1st plt 1st Sq.
So was I, 1st Plt D 1/4 0331
David, I arrived in country May 26, 1968 and LZ Loon was my first operation. We were at the Rock Pile, and arrived at Camp Carroll a day or two before LOON. I was with Delta Company. I remember Doc Ike a small black medic, Froggie, Country, Gunny Garthier. and Rick Everington. Two guys in my fox hole did not make it. I left the Nam in June 1969.
I would like to hear back from you Larry
Mike Munro

Hey Frank this is Fred Boney “. My nickname was peanuts. I served in Nam 68 – 69. I was in the battle of Operation Purple Martin. I was a squad leader in the latter part of my term of service. Do you remember me at all?

Looking for info for a SGT. Dan Gallagher. I’m trying to help my neibhor a fellow Marine put some prices from his past toghther. All I know is he was with 1/1 in 1966 doesn’t rembers what company or platoon. All he rembers a place called tam key and Bernard St. Jean getting killed. He is from the North East and live I, NH now.
My name is Don Lewis I served as 0331 with delta 1/4 3rd marine division on feb.2nd 1968 at the battle at Cam Lo near Con Tien
I was a squad leader for M-60’s at Cam Lo on 2 Feb. 1968 when we were hit by a large force of NVA around 1:30 a.m. and went until around 7:00 a.m. That was quite the night. We lost Larry Maxim MOH. It’s been so long that I can’t remember names anymore. I remember we were convoy security to Dong Ha and it was getting dark so we stayed over at Cam Lo for the night, and what a night it was. I’m a new member and that’s why I’m just getting around to this text. Semper Fi

I remember a guy on OP and one of our motor short rounds hit him. He had two pieces of shrapnal, one in the lip and on in his jugler. We carried him to LZ for medi-vac, but he lost too much blood, and we lost him. That was in summer of 1968, sometime.
I ended up being a radioman for Sgt Picket in ‘69 before we moved to Okinawa

50 years has a way of washing away more than memories, Tom. As yet I have not been able to make any of the reunions, hopefully next year. In photo album 3, Bush 7, I am the one standing behind the guy with the water bottle and after the pic of Cua Viet mail and your Pusk can on a stick there is a group pic Delta squad 1…I am the one in the upper right, Charlie Miller is below and Garcia to the left…I made a copy of that picture and left it at THE WALL in Washington last year at row 82…hope you didn’t mind. Thanks again Tom for the pics and memories. You were the one that replaced me as radio operator for Sgt Pickett….thanks
We went to Cua Viet for in-country r & r the day or two after christmas 1968. We were there for 2 or 3 days. I was on KP one of those days. I hope you didn’t eat the scrambled eggs for breakfast because they were full of maggots.
Hi Frank! I was in Delta Company. 1968 and 1969. I was in Purple Martin.
Hey Fred which platoon were you in, I was in 3rd?…I remember they artied Argonne with 155’s and 175’s all night long from firebase Alpine the night before we went up there. They were still throwing air strikes when we got there…
I was with Delta company when we went up to LZ Argonne.
assigned to guns that morning I was laying next to Ernie when he caught a round to the head. .I screamed for Doc and he came sliding down the hill and helped me pull Ernie across the open hillside. Doc caught one in the guts and we all went down. Doc scrambled back up the hill and I continued pulling Ernie. I was medevaced the morning the day the company walked off the hill, right after we blew it to smithereens with a ton of explosives…….. I was with Dooley and Quincy and Herpal and Berryman. Anybody else remember that two weeks?
Now that you added a face to the name I do remember you…I got the opportunity to be a member of a Badger Honor Flight for veterans trip to DC this Saturday…April 20, 2019….not sure if that photo is still at the Wall but will look.
Looking for information on Delta 1/4 Marines who were at Con Thien for the battle on May 8, 1967. Marine may be interviewed on the radio.
Also, Gunny Leroy Elliott and I were good friends. He was also my DI at Parris Island.
Hi this Fred Boney. Delta Co from August 68 to 69 was my mission. I was a grunt in Purple Martin with the 4th Marines and many other operations.
Hi Fred
After LZ Arrgon I left Delta co never to return. any chance you could forward me a copy of the current roster? I have talked with Roy Berryman, who was my squad leader, but he is the only one. I would like to talk to Joe Herpel and Quincy and Dooley from guns thanks much
