The Public TV company, PBS, is going to run a series titled “The American Veteran.” PBS and a New York film company selected 42 veterans nationwide, including me, to be in this series. It runs from Tuesday, October 26th, November 2nd, 9th and 16th @ 9:00 pm EDT. (Check local listings for precise scheduling for the 4 weeks.). One of the episodes is based on “service after service,” meaning service in the community after military service. See: American Veteran Preview – PBS website: https://www.pbs.org › show › american-veteran. Here is an overview of the series that the film company sent to me:
“This four-hour series takes the audience through a veteran’s career from enlistment/training, a tour of duty and coming home, while also grappling with questions of veteran identity, culture, and the relationship between the military and civilian worlds. The engine and heartbeat of the series are the stories told by the forty-two veterans from all walks of life — from WWII to the present with some older historical elements woven in for greater context. Each hour is narrated by four veterans in the public eye: actor and tv host Drew Carey, U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth, actor Wes Studi and motivational speaker J.R. Martinez. The television series will be broadcast nationally on PBS over the course of four weeks.”
I’m told I appear in the following episodes: 1, 2 and 4. I’m not exactly sure, but I have a good idea who sent my name to the producers of this series, and it probably was because of the attached article about me as a Veterans Treatment Court Judge that was published by the National Institute of Corrections, a division of the Justice Department. LZ Loon and its impact on my life is discussed in that article.
Semper Fi to all.

Con congratulations Capt. I spent some time with Delta on LZ Russel. I was there from 9/68 thur three extensions until 10/70. I was with 81’s and forward observer. My mind and age have robbed a lot of names and tidy bits of day to day life over there. But I still remember a lot. Charlie Company was my favorite. March of 69 brought a tremendous loss to my soul on LZ 10. I think it might also have been called “Mac”. Heavy day to carry in my mind. But, we all have some of them. My best to you and your leadership, as you brought or sent a lot of us home alive. Those on the wall know you always did your best. God be with you, Brother!
