Meeting in Tulsa, Oklahoma 28 September 2023
Minutes Submitted by Secretary Glenn Suire
The Association meeting was called to order at 10:00 A.M. by Vice President Ervin Love. Love led us with the Pledge of Allegiance and the opening prayer was led by Eddie Beesly. The roll call of officers showed the following were present: President Mike LeBlanc, Vice President Ervin Love, Treasurer Jack Kinser, Secretary Glenn Suire, and Past President Thurman Moore. After the roll call the meeting was turned over to President Mike LeBlanc.
Mike LeBlanc asked for nominations for the election of officers. Having received no nominations John Nardolino made a motion seconded by Mark Kruzick to retain the current slate of officers. During the discussion it was pointed out by Glenn Suire that it had been several years since some of the officers had attended a reunion and he recommended that they be replaced. A motion was made by Eddie Beesly and seconded by John Nardolino to retain Kirk Hauser as Membership Chairman. Motion carried. Glenn Suire made a motion to elect Marcelino Anguiano as Sergeant at Arms seconded by John Nardolino. Motion carried. Suire then made a motion seconded by John Nardolino to elect Eddie Beesly as Chaplain. Motion carried. Mark Kruzick made a motion seconded by John Nardolino to retain the remaining officers which include President Mike LeBlanc, Vice President Ervin Love, Treasurer Jack Kinser and Secretary Glenn Suire. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Mark Kruzick and seconded by Bob McMahon to accept the minutes of the Orlando reunion previously distributed to all attendees. Motion carried.
Jack Kinser then presented the financial report. The Florida auction earned $1,228.00 and the 50/50 netted $127.00. There was an anonymous $400.00 donation and another $183.00 donation to cover the bar bill at the BBQ. We received a refund from Medieval Times for $147.00. Jack mentioned $12,457.79 but it was unclear from the meeting recording what this was for. Chuck Edmonds questioned the status of the $9500.00 that the Orlando hotel wanted to charge us for not meeting the minimum requirements on the contract. Mike LeBlanc informed everyone that he and Jack Kinser met with hotel management and were able to get all additional charges dropped. There was no call for a motion to approve the treasurer report.
In Orlando it was decided that the 2024 reunion would be held in Lafayette, Louisiana. Mark Kruzick made a motion seconded by Bob McMahon to confirm that decision. Motion carried. Suire indicated that tentative plans were to have a visit to the Tabasco plant, McGee’s Landing swamp tour, and a possible visit to the National World War II museum in New Orleans.
A discussion was held on where to hold the 2025 reunion. Bob McMahon offered to host a reunion in the Chicago area. Marcelino Anguiano offered to host one in San Antonio and Jim Stinson offered to host one in Nashville. Mark Kruzick made a motion seconded by Thurman Moore that each potential host come to next year’s reunion with more information about their locations. Motion carried.
Glenn Suire mentioned that Jim Stinson, the son of deceased member Phil Stinson, has been to our last two reunions and has shown a strong interest in our association. Suire made a motion seconded by John Nardolino to make him an associate member with full voting privileges. Motion carried.
An open discussion was held on the type of shirts and the color for next years reunion. After going over numerous options it was decided that we would go with grey shirts and hats. It was also decided that we would offer golf and button-down shirts with no logos on the back. We would not offer tee shirts. The caps would be the web type.
A motion was made by John Nardolino and seconded by Enrique Tober, Jr. to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. The closing prayer was said by Chaplain Eddie Beesly.
