Communication/Electronics

  1. General.  The Communications Platoon embarked aboard the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2) on 27 January 1967.  During the period 27 through 31 January 1967, the platoon continued preparations for SLF operations.
  2. In order to support SLF operations, an increase in the battalion allowance for KAA-60 (authentication code) and KAC-138 (numeral code) was requested on 29 January 1967 (see BLT 1/4 message 291300Z Jan 67).  The increase was approved by CG FMFPAC on 1 February 1967 (see AdminO FMFPAC message 010241Z Feb 67).  The battalion allowance is now thirty (30) for each code.
  3. Message Center.  The BLT Message Center was established immediately upon embarkation.  Message handling procedures were coordinated with the SLF Communication Center and the ship Communication Center.  Operations have been normal.  Message totals for the period:
