(1)               4th Marines continues operation against VC/NVA in assigned area.

(2)               1st MAW provides fixed wing and helo support as available.

(3)               3rd Bn 12th Marines provide artillery support as required.

  2. Mission.  Conduct aggressive patrolling in SE area Co Bi Thanh Tan Valley to determine enemy lines of communication along west bank Song Lo River and estimate feasibility for employing Recon Scuba team in Song Lo River.

(1)               At H-hour, D-day commence tactical motor march from Camp Evans to vicinity of YD 581309, dismount and continue movement by foot into assigned OA ensuring arrival prior to first light.

  1. 3rd Bn 12th Marines.  Provide artillery support from Camp Evans area for Company D as required.
  2. Battalion reserve.  Rifle Plt, Company C on 30-minute alert.
  3. Coordinating Instructions.

(1)               Adhere strictly to the rules of engagement.

(2)               Employ proper convoy security.

(3)               Report by fastest means available indications of enemy activity.

(4)               Submit day and night activities to Bn CP NLT 1400H the day prior.

(5)               Do not destroy captured food, supplies or medicine.  Report their location and await instructions.

(6)               Operations outside your OA conducted only on the approval of Bn CP.

(7)               Caution friendly forces on enemy mines and booby traps.

(8)               POW’s and detainees will be evacuated to Bn CP.

(9)               Ensure all troops have attended Bn School on hasty stream crossing.

(10)             Carry Ropes for hasty stream crossing.

(11)              Carry one compass, rubber lady and machete per squad.

(12)             Develop a positive buddy system between swimmers and non-swimmers.

(13)             Submit SITREPS hourly or on enemy contact.

(14)             D-day TBA

(15)             H-hour TBA

  1. Admin and Logistics.
  2. Prescribed Load.  As prescribed by the Company Commander, Company D.
  3. Uniform and Equipment.  As prescribed by the Company Commander, Company D.
  4. Resupply.  Requests will be submitted by 1000H the day before resupply required.
  5. Drinking Water.  Water is available throughout the area, ensure troops utilize halazone tablets.
  6. Med Evac.  Helo evacuation in accordance with standard procedure.
  7. Transportation.

(1)               Mine M-37’s will be marshaled by the Bn S-4 at 1900H

(2)               Plt Guides will report to the Bn S-4 by 1845.

(3)               Staging area for the convoy will be on the road opposite Dead Aim LZ.
