  1. Situation.
  2. Enemy Forces.  Current Intsums.
  3. Friendly Forces.

(1)               1st Inf. Div (ARVN) conducts ground operations in zone to locate and defeat VC/NVA forces, destroy installations and capture enemy supplies.

(2)               Fourth Marines continues present operations in conjunction with Operation Neosho.

(3)               Artillery.  3rd Bn 12th Marines in direct support and provides liaison officer to ARVN TF Artillery.  1st Inf. Div. (ARVN) TF Artillery provides reinforcing fire upon request.

(4)               1st MAW provides fixed wing and helicopter support.

  1. Mission.  On D plus 10 (5Nov67) establish blocking forces in conjunction with 1st Inf Div (ARVN).  Operation LAN Son 140 (Operation Granite) Phase II in ‘Street Without Joy’ area.
  2. Execution.
  3. Concept of Operations.  See Operations overlay.
  4. Company C.  After engineer road sweep of National Route one on 5Nov67.  Commence motor movement north from Camp Evans to vic YD 4641.  Establish blocking position Anvil (see OP overlay).
  5. Company D.  After engineer road sweep of National Route one on 5Nov67.  Commence motor movement north from Camp Evans to vic YD4641.  Establish blocking position Forge  (see OP overlay).
  6. Battalion Reserve.

(1)        30-minute alert status commencing 050830H.

  1. Coordinating Instructions.

(1)        Adhere strictly to the rules of engagement.

(2)        Report by fastest means available all enemy contacts.

(3)               Caution friendly troops on mines and booby traps.

(4)               Do not destroy captured food or medicine.  Report their location and await instructions.

(5)               Report POW’s and detainees to Bn CP and await instructions.

(6)               Depart Camp Evans at 050930H.

(7)               Thrust point:

(a)               Kilo 4440

(8)               Submit normal reports.

(9)               Rendezvous with truck at 050915H on road in front of Company Offices.

(10)          Operation terminates on order this HQ.

(11)          Company Commander Co D designated local Tactical Commander of USMC units.

  1. Admin and Logistics.
  2.          Prescribed loads.  As set forth by company commanders.
  3. Uniform and Equipment.  Normal arms and equipment to include flak jacket, ID tags, entrenching tool and weapons cleaning equipment.
  4. Medical.  Helo evacuation in accordance with standard procedures.  All personnel will carry sufficient quantity of salt and halazone tablets.
  5. Command and Communications/Electronics.
  6. Command Posts.  Report all CP locations when established.
  7. Visual.

(1)               Carry air panels and colored smoke.

(1)               Guard 60.35 upon departure Camp Evans.

(2)               Alternate frequency: 45.10

(3)               Med Evac frequency: 45.70
