Air Support

  1. Fixed Wing Support
  2. No fixed wing A/C were controlled by 1/4 this month.  Fourteen air strikes, consisting of 28 sorties, were run by AO’s.  Only partial bomb damage assessment was received, including 3 KBA, 3 fighting holes, 11 structures, 15 bunkers destroyed, and 2 secondary explosions observed.
  3. Med-evacs
  4. 4 emergency – 57.5 minutes average
  5. 6 priority – 54.0 minutes average
  6. 3 routines – 55.0 minutes average
  7. Air Observers
  8. AOs were used almost daily; results were dependent on the weather.  AOs controlled the only air strikes in the Battalion’s AOR.
  9. Troop Lift
  10. No troop lifts were conducted
  11. Resupply.
  12. On 20 March a helicopter resupply of Class I supplies was requested and completed at YD 158702.
  13. TPQ’s
  14. 180 requested, 70 were run
  15. C&C Flights
  16. 14 March requested 1 helicopter for 4 passengers for 30 minutes.  Received 1 helicopter for 3 passengers for 20 minutes.
  17. 17 March requested 2 helicopters for 8 passengers for 20 minutes.  Received 1 helicopter for 4 passengers.  Flight took 2 hours due to engine problems.
  18. 18 March requested and received 1 helicopter for 4 passengers for 30 minutes.
