Training – March 1968

 

Training

  1. The Battalion’s training program continued throughout March in accordance with the Battalion’s training SOP.  Upon arrival at A-4, individual classes were administered at company level rather than on Battalion level as had been the practice at C-2.  Classes emphasized subjects needed to meet tactical requirements.

Classes were conducted on the following subjects:

Marksmanship                                                                    FO Procedures

M-16 Care and Cleaning                                                 Demolitions

Map and Compass Reading                                           Weapons Safety

Radio Procedure                                                                 M-60 Machinegun

Ambush Techniques                                                         50 cal. machinegun

First Aid/Buddy Aid                                                           Fire Discipline and

                                                                                                            Discipline

FAM and Field Firing of the LAAW

  1. All replacement personnel received an indoctrination briefing from the Commanding Officer, each Executive and Special Staff Section head and each Company Commander in accordance with the Battalion SOP for replacement training.  Each replacement was afforded an opportunity to FAM fire his TO weapon.
