Air Support – April 1968

 

Air Support

  1. Fixed Wing Support.
  2. ALO controlled one flight of fixed wing at YD 096705.  No BDA was obtained.
  3. Aerial observers controlled 58 flights in our AOR during April.  Total BDA was 41 KBA (confirmed), 9 KBA (probable), 4 WIA, 86 bunkers destroyed, 13 bunkers damaged, 2 structures destroyed, 595 meters of trench line destroyed, 7 fighting holes destroyed and 25 secondary fires and explosions.  Several flights were not given a BDA.
  4. Medevacs.
  5. Eight med-evac missions were run for a total of 30 casualties.
  6. Aerial Observers.
  7. Aerial observers were used daily for visual reconnaissance mission in support of units in our AOR and to control air strikes and artillery mission.
  8. Troop Lifts.
  9. There were no troop lifts during the month of April.
  10. Resupply.
  11. Received approximately 45,000 pounds of resupply by helicopter during the month of April.
  12. TPQ’s.
  13. 184 TPQ’s were requested and 43 were hit for a 23 percentile.
  14. C&C Flights.
  15. C&C Flights were used for visual reconnaissance 14 times during the month of April.
  16. C&C Flights were also used several times to carry passengers to and from other positions.
