Medical and Dental Affairs

  1. The total number of visits to the Battalion Aid Station during the month of July was 763.
  2. Prevalent medical entities encountered were:
  3. Gastroenteritis; Diarrhea – 134
  4. Acute Respiratory Infections – 7
  5. Other Respiratory Infections – 22
  6. Malaria – 22
  7. FUO – 55
  8. Dermatological Conditions – 10
  9. Neuropsychiatry Treatment – 5
  10. Gonococcus Infections – 5
  11. All suspected and confirmed cases of venereal disease were given a Serological Test for Syphilis in accordance with NAVMED 22-18 and the results entered in the individual’s health record.
  12. The total number of patients referred to Delta Medical Company, 3rd Medical Bn., 3rd Marine Division (Rein) FMF were 42.
  13. Malaria prophylaxis was maintained by Chloraquine Primaquine tablets weekly and Dapsone tablets daily.
  14. A weekly sanitation inspection was held in Dong Ha and LZ Stud by a qualified corpsman.
  15. During the month of July there were two Battalion ‘Aid Stations.  The Forward BAS was at LZ Stud and the rear BAS was at Dong Ha.
