Air Support

  1. Fixed Wing Support
  2. Close Air Support.  Six flights were controlled by Aerial Observers in support of Operation SCOTLAND NANKING.
  3. Aerial Observers.  In addition to controlling close air support missions, Aerial Observers were utilized on twelve occasions for area surveillance missions.
  4. TPQ’s.  Eighteen TPQ’s were requested during the month and four were hit.
  5. Helicopter Support
  6. Troop lifts.  During the month there were three Battalion-size lifts and five separate Company-size lifts.
  7. Med-evacs.
  8. Five emergency for a 30 minutes average
  9. Eleven priority for a 50 minutes average
  10. Twenty-two routine for a 1 hour average
  11. C&C Flights.  Seven helicopter flights were used for visual reconnaissance missions before and during Operation SCOTLAND NANKING.  In addition, C&C helicopters were used on nine Command Liaison movements.
