Air Support

  1. Fixed Wing Support
  2. Close Air Support.  Five flights were controlled by aerial observers in the Battalion AO.
  3. Aerial Observers.  In addition to controlling close air support missions, aerial observers were utilized on fifty-one occasions for area surveillance missions.
  4. TPQ’s.  Seventy TPQ’s were requested during the month and twelve were hit.
  5. Radio Relay.  Two C-117’s, a C-130 and an OV-10A were used for radio relay between elements of the Battalion when direct radio contact was lost.
  6. Helicopter Support
  7. Troop Lifts.  During the month there was one Battalion size lift and eight Company size lifts.
  8. Med-evacs.
  9. Five Emergency med-evacs – 30 minutes average
  10. Eleven Priority med-evacs – 50 minutes average
  11. Twenty-two Routine med-evacs – 1 hour average
  12. C&C Flights.  Five helicopter flights were used for visual reconnaissance missions during the month.
