Med-Cap programs were conducted during the month of February 1969 at the two villages of Lang Kat and Phu Thanh located to south VCB within our AO.
The population of Lang Kat consists of approximately 800 Montagnard villagers. Phu Thanh the other village consisted of Vietnamese people. Both villages main economic standard was based on agriculture with some food being derived from a nearby river.
During each Ned-Cap approximately 20-40 patients were seen. The patient load was divided almost evenly between pediatric and adult patients. The diseases were generally minor with gastrointestinal disturbances, respiratory diseases and dermatological conditions, accounting for the majority of the problems. Three seriously ill patients were seen and med-evaced to Provincial hospitals for further care.
Additionally well child and adult care was given. Vitamins were dispensed to children and iron supplement was given to all females.
