Logistics

  1. Logistical Situation.
  2. During the period 1-16 December 1966 the Battalion formed as a Battalion Landing Team and prepared to Embark from RVN to Okinawa.  An advance party of 1 Officer, 8 SNCO’s and 1 Corporal departed Phu Bai and proceeded to Okinawa.  The BLT was formed and commenced loading on 14 December and completed loading on 17 December.  On 13 December the defense duties of the Phu Bai perimeter were assumed by the Second Battalion Ninth Marines.

  4. Supported Strength – 1100 personnel (includes elements of ‘F’ Co 2/26)

(1)               Class I – Over 9,000 MCI were issued, these were supplemented by at least one meal of ‘Alpha’ rations daily to units deployed in all outlining areas.

(2)               Class II – One ‘in-kind’ issue was held during the reporting period.

(3)               Class III – POL provided consisted of 180 gallons of Diesel and 90 gallons of MOGAS daily.

(4)               Class IV – Sandbags, concertina and barbed wire stakes were received during the reporting period for the construction of a defense perimeter around the ASP.

(5)               Class V – B/A’s and DOA’s were maintained as appropriate.

  1. Evacuation and Hospitalization. See section IX.
  2. Transportation. The battalion was supported by five 2½-ton trucks supplied by Bravo Company, Ninth Motor Transport Battalion.
  3. Service. The bath unit provided by FLSU-2 to the battalion was broken during the entire reporting period; because of this shower were not made available to the troops during this same period.
