Intelligence

  1. General.  (Period covered:  1 December 1966 to 16 December 1966) The Battalion was actively engaged in the defense of the Hue/Phu Bai Vital Area, during this reporting period.  In addition, ‘A’ and ‘B’ Companies were deployed in the Troui and Gia Le Operating Areas.  During the reporting period enemy contact was light but increased towards the end of the reporting period.  There were several minor incidents occurring along the defensive wire of the Phu Bai Vital Area.  Much of the enemy contact involved the Combined Action Companies (CAC) while on patrol and/or ambushes.  During the reporting period there were a total of 3 VC KIA (confirmed) and 20 VC KIA (probable).
