Air Support – Defense

Section VIII

A. Air Support. During the month of November, the air support requirements of the battalion consisted primarily of helicopter resupply. Approximately one third of the requests were not fulfilled. The aircraft availability and the weather were the primary factors contributing to the lack of support. All evacuation requests were satisfactorily fulfilled during the month.

1. Air Support Requests.

a. Resupply – mission requests-90, missions completed-61.

b. Evacuation – mission requests-3, missions completed-3.

c. Tactical (Recon) – mission requests-9, missions completed-4

2. Fixed Wing Transport – none.

3. Air Strikes.

a. Mission requests – 1, mission completed-1.

B. Air Defense. The air defense measures employed by the battalion were passive. No organic weapons are available for active air defense.
