Air Support

  1. Fixed Wing Support
  2. Close Air Support.  Eight air strikes were run in support of the Battalion.  All of the strikes were controlled by Air Observers.  Total BDA resulting from Air Strikes was the following:  four (4) bunkers destroyed, six (6) bunkers damaged, six (6) NVA KBA.
  3. Aerial Observers.  In addition to controlling the above air strikes, AO’s were utilized on numerous occasions to perform visual reconnaissance for companies on the move.
  4. TPQ’s.  Thirteen (13) TPQ’s were requested, four (4) were hit.
  5. Helicopter Support
  6. Med-evacs
  7. 24 routine (average of 60 minutes each)
  8. 16 priority (average of 45 minutes each)
  9. 4 emergency (average of 20 minutes each)
  10. Troop Lifts.  During this month the Battalion controlled two (2) Battalion size and six (6) Company size troop lifts.
  11. C&C Flights.  C&C helicopter were used once for a visual reconnaissance of an area for an upcoming operation.
