Air Support

  1. Air Support
  2. Close Air Support.  Four flights were controlled by aerial observers in the Battalion area.
  3. Aerial Observers.  In addition to the controlling close air support missions, aerial observers were utilized on eleven occasions for area surveillance mission.
  4. TPQ’s.  TPQ’s were requested during the month and 26 were hit.
  5. Illumination.  During the Cordon and Search of Cam Lo Refugee Village, aircraft dropped illumination was utilized on nine occasions.
  6. Helicopter Support
  7. Troop Lifts.  During the month there were three Battalion size lifts and twelve Company size lifts.
  8. Med-evacs.
  9. Sixteen emergency Med-evacs – 30 minutes average
  10. Ten priority Med-evacs – 50 minutes average
  11. seventeen routine Med-evacs – 1 hour average
  12. C&C Flights.  Fifteen helicopter flights were used for command liaison and reconnaissance mission during the month.
