Fire Support

  1. The Battalion FO teams operated exclusively with their assigned companies.  The teams were operating in the field and in this status they manned no permanent observation positions.
  2. Night defensive fires were called at every position occupied and at 60% of these positions they were fired in.
  3. A number of fires were brought to bear on Counter Battery/Mortar, observed enemy movement, intelligence targets and suspected enemy positions.  Firecracker ammo was used against some of the enemy moving targets and suspected positions with excellent results.  The following missions were fired in support of the Battalion during the reporting period.
  4. H&I’s – 250
  5. Observed fires – 170
  6. Unobserved fires – 0
  7. Counter Btry/Mortar – 11
  8. Illumination – 50
  9. The FO teams had several secondary explosions and were credited with 30 enemy KIA’s during the operating month.
