Logistics

A. Supply

1. Class I. All Class I was drawn at VCB in support of operations. The Battalion mess hall served ‘A’ rations twice daily at VCB. While the Battalion was on FSB Russell and Neville, the mess hall served one hot every other day, weather permitting.

2. Class II. Battalion supply operating at Quang Tri with FLSG/B as the service of supply. Class II supply tents remain at Vandegrift to cut time lost in transfer of cargo from Quang Tri to Vandegrift. Shortages in the following items were experienced during this period.

a. nozzles, covers (water buffalo)

b. holsters, hip .45 cal.

3. Class III. Class III was adequate at Vandegrift.

4. Class IV. Class IV was adequate at Vandegrift.

5. Class V. Class V was adequate at Vandegrift.

B. Transportation

1. Organic. During this month the M-151A1, M-274A2 and the M-37B1 were used for resupply and administrative runs at Vandegrift and Quang Tri.

2. Support. Division Motor Transport arranged transportation of Class II supplies and personnel Quang Tri to Vandegrift. Division embarkation coordinated several lifts of troops and supplies from Quang Tri to outlying fire base. 3rd Motor Transport Battalion supported the Battalion on a daily basis.

C. Engineer Support. Engineer support teams provided the Battalion with demolition capabilities.
