- Significant Events
- During July the Battalion maintained position in the Phu Bai Vital Area and the Battalion Area of Responsibility including platoon and squad outposts on Hill 225 and 180 respectively. The combined Action Company maintained positions in villages and hamlets around the Enclave. Company K, 3rd Battalion 4th Marines became OpCon and is located at the Trout Bridge Area.
- Resupply to Hill 225 was accomplished by helicopter once each 48-hour period. Average resupply totaled 3,000 pounds. Resupply of all other areas was accomplished by truck.
- The Battalion was afforded an ‘in kind’ issue during the reporting period.
- The Battalion received the new AN/MRC-109 radio vehicle during the reporting period.
- Replacement and/or repair of fortified positions in the Battalion area of Responsibility are nearing completion.
- Supply
- Class I – 6,400 gallons of water and 731 MCIs were provided daily. A and B rations were also provided for an average daily strength of 837 personnel, which included at least one hot meal a day for all CAC units and K/3/4.
- Class II – Re-issues and repairs of individual and organization equipment continued as available through supply and maintenance channels.
- Class III – POL consumption consisted of 45 gallons of Diesel; 90 gallons of MOGAS per day; and small quantities of greases and lubes, for operation of organic vehicles and electrical power sources.
- Class IV – Class IV issued in support of the rehabilitation of fortifications consisted of 22,000 sandbags, 144 rolls of concertina, and 37 rolls of barbed wire.
- Transportation. Satisfactory truck support was experienced for tactical and logistical requirements of this Battalion.
- Sanitation. No sanitation problems were encountered.
