Logistics

  1. Logistical situation. During the period 1-3 March 1967 the final stages of Deckhouse VI was completed.  Back loading aboard assigned shipping was completed at 1630 on 3 March and the Operation was formally completed at 1800 on 3 March 1967.
  2. Supply. 130 tons of resupply was delivered by helicopter and landing craft during the reporting period.
  3. Class I.  15,444 Meals, combat individual and 2,210 gallons of water were distributed during the period of operations.  The rations were supplemented by at least one hot meal of ‘Alpha’ rations daily to all units deployed in the field.
  4. Class II.  Class II supplies were issued as appropriate.  This mainly consisted of insect repellent, batteries and communication wire.
  5. Class III.  Class III supplies were issued as appropriate.
  6. Class IV. Class IV supplies were issued as appropriate.
  7. Class V.  During the reporting period, Class V was issued in the amounts listed below:

(1)       The above listed expenditures are resupply figures, which were issued in addition to the Basic Allowances (B/A).

(2)       Upon completion of the operation all 105mm ammunition was returned by helicopter to the LSA located at Duc Pho.

(3)       Reconstitution of the B/A upon completion of the operations was minimal.

  1. Hospitalization and Evacuation.  See Section IX.
  2. Transportation.   During the reporting period, troops were transported ashore by means of both helicopter and landing craft.  After the initial landing the majority of the transportation required for resupply was handled by helicopter.  LIWC’s (mules) were used at the beach area for transporting supplies and equipment to units deployed nearby.
