Supply

1. Class I.  All Class I was drawn from supply point Vandegrift Combat Base.  The Battalion Mess Hall served ‘R’ rations three times daily at Vandegrift Combat Base.  Hot meals and supplementary goods were provided units deployed in field when the tactical situation permitted.
2. Class II.  The Battalion Supply Section operated at Quang Tri Combat Base with FLSG/B as the source of supply.  A subsidiary Class II issue point established at Vandegrift Combat Base assured prompt customer service on replacement of lost items, particularly items of field equipment.  Shortages in the following items were experienced during this period: nozzles and covers, water buffalo, flak jackets, and M-16 magazines.  All items are on requisition.
3. Class III.  Class III supply at Vandegrift was adequate.
4. Class IV.  Class IV supply at Vandegrift was adequate.
5. Class V.  Class V supply at Vandegrift was adequate except for certain ordinance items.

Transportation

1. Organic.  During this period the M-151A1, M-274A2, and the M-J7A1 were used for resupply and administrative runs at Vandegrift and Quang Tri.
2. Support.  Division Motor Transport furnished transportation for delivery of Class II supplies and personnel from Quang Tri to Vandegrift.  The 3^rd Motor Transport Battalion supported the Battalion on a daily basis.
3. Engineer support teams provided the Battalion with demolition capabilities.
