(1)               4th Marines conducts operations outside assigned OA in coordination with 1st ARVN Division while continuing to conduct normally assigned mission.

(2)               3rd Bn 12th Mar direct support to 4th Marines.

(3)               1st MAW provides fixed wing and help support as required.

  2. Mission.  1st Plt (-)(rein) establishes blocking positions X-ray and Zulu in the western sector of 1st ARVN Division OA Vic My Chanh (4640).
  3. Execution.
  4. Concept of operation.
  5. Co C (rein), 1st Bn 4th Mar.

(1)               At 290830H Sept 67 commence tactical motor march north from Camp Evans.  Establish blocking position Zulu.  Be prepared for further operations as directed.

  1. Co I (rein), 3rd Bn 26th mar.

(1)               On order 29 Sept 67 commence tactical motor march north from Camp Evans.  Establish blocking position X-ray.  Be prepared for further operations as directed.

  1. Battalion Reserve.

Co D (rein) 1st Bn 4th Mar.

(1)               By 301400H Sept assume 30-minute alert status.

(2)               Be prepared to reinforce blocking position X-ray and Zulu as directed.

  1. Coordinating Instructions.

(1)               Adhere strictly to the rules of engagement.

(2)               Report by fastest means available indications of enemy activity.

(3)               Caution friendly forces on mines and booby traps.

(4)               Report when in position to this HQ.

(5)               4th Mar FSCC will coordinate all fires.

  1. Administration and Logistics.
  2. Prescribed load.  As prescribed by unit commanders, to include — plus 1 DOA, 3 MCI/individual and two full canteens of water.
  3. Resupply.  Submit request by 0900 the day before resupply required.
  4. Uniform and equipment.  Normal arms and equipment, to include armored vest, ID tags, entrenching tool, at least one pair socks and cleaning equipment for weapons.
  5. Medical.  Helo evacuation in accordance with standard procedures.  Each man carries sufficient quantity of salt and halazone tablets.
  6. Command, Communications/Electronics.
  7. Command Posts.

(1)        Report CP locations when established.

(1)               Carry air panels and colored smoke.

(1)               Guard 60.35 upon departure Camp Evans.

(2)               Alternate frequency 45.10.
