Operation Order 2-67 Deck House VI

    • (1) CG III MAF provides intelligence of the AOA, coordination with subordinate units, and requested logistical support.
    • (2) CG 1st MAW provides CAS and other Air Support as required.
    • (3) CG 1st MarDiv provides intelligence and reaction force as requested.
    • (4) Task Force X-Ray conducts a separate combined multi Bn search and destroy operation northwest (Quang Ngai) of the AOA on 15 Feb 1967 and during Deck House VI.
    • (5) 3rd Bn 7th Mar (rein) is currently conducting operations in Nui Dang and Nui Dau areas.
    • (6) A Regional Force Company is located at BS 918220.
    • (7) CTG 115.1 will conduct Market Time support as required.
    • (8) Amphibious Ready Group (CTG 76.5) provides transport, UDT, and Naval Gunfire support.
    • (9) HMM 363 provide helicopter support.
    • (10) Provisional Artillery Group lands on order over Blue Beach. Provides tactical control of all artillery units ashore on order.

  1. Mission.
  2. Commencing at L-hour on D-day land by heliborne assault into designated LZ’s, seize LF objectives 1 and 3 establish blocking positions on routes of egress from Sa Huynh area, conduct search and destroy operations in the vicinity of LF objectives 1 and 3.
  3. Commencing at H-hour on D-day land by waterborne assault over Blue Beach and seize LF objective 2.
  1. On order, continue search and destroy operations and seize LF objectives 4 and 5.
  2. Establish reserve rifle Co. aboard LPD prepared to land by helicopter or surface craft.
  3. By D plus one provide platoon size Sparrow Hawk force aboard LPH-2.
  4. On order, conduct tactical withdrawal.
  5. Execution.

  7. Company A (rein)
    • (1) Commencing on L-hour, D-day land by helicopter in Landing Zone Robin. Seize objective 1.
    • (2) On order establish platoon-blocking positions on route QL-1 from coordinates BS 908267 to BS 918251 to prevent exfiltration of objective 4.
    • (3) Be prepared to continue search and destroy operations and seize objective 4 on order.
  8. Company B (rein)

(1)        When ordered on D-day land by helicopter in Landing Zone Parrot. Seize objective 3.

(2)        Conduce search and destroy operations in vicinity of objective 3.

(3)        Establish company size combat outpost and conduct extensive daytime patrolling and night ambushes in assigned area of operations.

  1. Company C (rein)

(1) Commencing at H-hour on D-day land by waterborne assault over Beach Blue. Seize Landing Force objective 2.

  • (2) Prevent exfiltration of landing force objective 5.
  • (3) Coordinate defense of beach support area and adjacent artillery positions. Provide one platoon initially as security for landing beach.
  • (4) Be prepared to continue search and destroy operations on order.
  1. Battery G 3/12.

(1)        On order on D-day land in landing craft over Beach Blue.

  • (2)          On completion of assault landing on order revert to tactical control of provisional artillery group.
  1. Mortar Batter 3/12.

(1) On D-day on order land by helicopter in designated Landing Zone.

  • (2) Provide reinforcing fires to Battery G.
  • (3) Be prepared to revert to General Support of landing forces on order.
  1. H&S Company (-)

(1)        Land on order in landing zone Owl.

(2)        81mm Mortar Platoon (-) and 106 RR Platoon (-) in general support of the BLT.

  1. 4th Platoon Co B, 1st AmTrac Bn.

(1) Land elements of BLT in accordance with Annex H (Landing Plan).

  • (2) Provide cross-country transportation.
  • (3) Provide prime mover support to Battery G as required.
  • (4) Provide LVTC for BLT Command Group.

(1) Land on order over Beach Blue.

  • (2) Provide close Engineer support to BLT.

(1)        Land on order by helicopter in GS BS 9227.

(2)        Conduct reconnaissance and surveillance and utilizing available supporting arms, prevent exfiltration northward from objective 4.

  1. BLT Reserve (Company D).

(1)        Land on order in accordance with Annex H (Landing Plan).

(2)        Be prepared for employment anywhere within the area of operations.

  • (3) Provide one platoon as Sparrow Hawk aboard Iwo Jima on D+1.
