- Morale. Morale continued to be high. This Battalion utilized 32 quotas for In-Country R&R. Out-of-Country R&R quotas utilized for the month were: Bangkok – 16, Hawaii – 20, Hong Kong – 13, K.L. – 3, Manila – 2, Penang – 2, Singapore – 2, Okinawa –4, Sidney – 14, Taipei – 12, Tokyo – 6. During the month, 6 Lance Corporals were promoted to Corporal, 38 Privates First Class to Lance Corporal and 10 Privates to Private First Class. One Staff Sergeant was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant, two Corporals were meritoriously promoted to Sergeant, one Lance Corporal was meritoriously promoted to Corporal, during the reporting period.
- Religious Services. Spiritual coverage was provided for the Battalion during the month of November in the field and at our rears. A total of 25 Protestant services were conducted by the Battalion Chaplain with an attendance of 719 and 265 taking communion. Ten Catholic Masses were given by Chaplain *ubble of the 4th Marines with 296 attending. Six Protestant services were given by the Battalion Chaplain for other units in the Vandegrift area with an attendance of 118. Three Memorial Services were conducted by the Battalion Chaplain with an attendance of 257. Four men from B Company were baptized after instructions near LZ Cates. Six instruction classes were held, numerous counseling cases, letters to families, prayers for occasions and Red Cross messages were accomplished during the month. One meeting of the Division Chaplains was attended by the Battalion Chaplain at Quang Tri.
